My artistic creations are not what come to me but rather what come through me. I often don’t know what I am going to create. Either I get an inspired thought or concept or I just sit down to an empty canvas or blank page and begin. In the case of my paintings, I sit and wait for the subject matter or paint colours to choose me. With Abstract it is more freeing an experience because there is no right or wrong choices. And although each piece of art is left to the viewer’s interpretation, it is broader a scope of possibility and or interpretation with abstract. I don’t worry about shadow or light source and I don’t have to paint within the lines. For me, it is quite exploratory and exhilarating because I myself can’t wait to see what it turns into.
For my renderings of the human form or landscapes and still life I am tied to my ideas of being spot on right from the beginning. If you read my bio, you will remember that I struggle with what is and what I think should be. Far too often I am disappointed with what is, because somehow it falls short of my idealistic views of what should be. It is torture, I know, but I have to concede and let it go and move on. Sometimes my inspired thought comes in the form of ideas for a series, as in the case of my “Who Could I Have Been”, “Families” or even my “Fragments” series. I knew how the finished product would look before I ever lifted a brush, picked out the mixed media or clicked a shutter.
The Prints sold here are Giclee. Giclee is ink jet printing that is as close to the original as one can get. All Prints will have a signature on the paper or canvas (image). Those that are Limited Editions will be numbered and signed.
